Heritage rules put Cape York tourism venture on hold

wallace-main_320x220NATIVE titleholder Marilyn Wallace dreams of creating a prosperous tourism venture on her ancestral land on the Cape, but environmental and land tenure issues are standing in the way of the indigenous entrepreneur.
Speaking at the Planning Institute of Australia state conference in Cairns yesterday, Ms Wallace described her battle to build a caravan park at Shipton’s Flats, 20km north of Wujal Wujal, to create employment opportunities for indigenous people.
